LONG NOSE PUTTERS

ADD 1 MORRIS, TOM, ST. ANDREWS: "T Morris" on the head of an outstanding circa 1890 dark stained Beech head long nose Putter. The shaft is of exotic DANGAWOOD covered with a old sheep skin grip. The head is virtually Mint New and exhibits very little evidence of play. A nice example of "Old Tom's" work. G-8 $2200.

ADD 2 AYRES, F H, LONDON, ENGLAND: "The Birco Putter" below Ayres "Maltese Cross" maker's mark at the toe. "D Bennet, St. Andrews" also on the back of this circa 1920's line scored straight blade. G-7 $80

ADD 3 FOSTER BROTHERS, ASHBOURNE: "The 'Bogee' Putter" and "Registered No 696416" on the sole of this interesting wide soled sloped back aluminum head Putter. "Foster Brothers, Ashbourne" stamped on top along the sight bar. The hosel is square with no cracks. Original shaft with replacement grip. All markings are deep and bold. A nice collectible. Very seldom offered in the United States. Scarce! G-7 $325

ADD 4 GIBSON, WILLIAM, EDINBURGH, SCOTLAND: A scarce circa 1900 smooth face specialty club that looks like a Chipper or Approaching Putter and is stamped "Wm. Gibson, Maker, Edinburgh" on the back. The very shallow face has the loft of a Cleek and the back and wide sole resemble a Gem putter. The ASH shaft is a recent replacement with a wrapped leather grip. Gibson clubs from his Edinburgh forge are quite scarce! G-6 $145.00

ADD 5 GIBSON, WILLIAM, KINGHORN, SCOTLAND: A dot punched, circa 1915 "Putting Iron" with Gibson's "Star" mark. Repair to the shaft. G-7 $55

ADD 6 LUMLEY'S LT'D, GLASGOW, SCOTLAND: "Lumley's Lt'd, Scottish Champion" and "Magic Putter" on a bent neck and a line scored face circa 1920's. The top line is very thin and the sole is over a half inch wide. It also has a beveled heel and toe. Appears all original. G-6 $90.00

ADD 7 MARLING, ALICK: A SCARCE circa 1915 "Magic Putter" with a bent neck and a dot punched face. The top line is very thin and the sole is over a half inch wide. Appears all original. G-6 $100.00

ADD 8 MOORE, J W, REDHILL, SURREY, ENGLAND: "Moore" in script on an outstanding circa 1920's socket head Long Nose style Persimmon head mallet Putter with a four inch long back lead weight. The original shaft is slightly oval shaped at the hosel and becomes square just before the grip. 3/4 ths of the bottom is covered with a brass plate. A nice and unusual collectible. G-8 $375

ADD 9 NEILSON, J, MUSSELBURGH: A circa 1910-1915 dot punched face "Putting Cleek" stamped "J Neilson, Musselburgh". Replacement shaft with a wrapped leather grip. A very scarce and seldom offered maker. G-5 $110.00

ADD 10 UNKNOWN MAKER: A circa 1905 "Calamity Jane" type smooth face Putter without any markings. G-5 $55

PGB 1 ARMY & NAVY STORES, LONDON: A nice circa 1890 deep face straight steel blade Putter with "A & N C S L" on the head and original shaft. Grip is an original looking "Kid" skin. A good early collectible Putter. G-7 $175.

PGB 2 BREEZE, G BRODIE, GLASGOW, SCOTLAND: "Excelsior Putter" with the "Royal Crown Brand" mark at toe of a circa 1910 off set blade with hyphen scoring. Replacement grip over original looking shaft. Very scarce maker! G-6+ $175.00

PGB 3 BRITISH GOLF CO, LONDON, ENGLAND: A scarce and seldom offered smooth face off set blade putter circa 1900-1905 stamped "British Golf Co, London" . Shaft is a replacement. G-5 $75

PGB 4 FORGAN, ROBERT, ST ANDREWS, SCOTLAND: Circa1920 line scored blade "Scotia Putter" with a replacement shaft. G-6 $48

PGB 5 GIBSON, WILLIAM, KINGHORN, SCOTLAND: A circa 1910-15 straight blade "Putting Iron" with heavy dot punches on the face. Gibson's "Star" mark is at the toe. The owner put an aluminum end cap on the grip and added a "Four Leaf Clover" and "Horseshoe" marker on the end. Interesting putter! G-7 PHOTO $85.00

PGB 6 GIBSON, WILLIAM, KINGHORN, SCOTLAND: A nice "Arthur Brown, Harry Vardon" crescent shaped Putter with dots in a "Pyramid" on the face. The head is also stamped "Army & Navy Hold Fast, London" and has the Gibson's "Star". The hosel and shaft are oval and the original sheep skin grip is a bit tattered at the bottom. A nice example of this highly collectible Putter. G-7 $250

PGB 7 GOURLAY, JAMES, CARNOUSTIE, SCOTLAND: "Crescent & Star" mark at the toe and "J Gourlay, Carnoustie" on a circa 1915 goose neck blade Putter. Looks all original. G-6 $70

PGB 8 GRAY, H J & SONS, CAMBRIDGE: A circa 1895 straight steel blade Putter with a thick hosel. "Gray & Sons, Cambridge" on the head and the exotic Greenheart shaft. G-6 $95

PGB 9 LESLIE, R & W CO: "The Leslie" Patented putter featuring a "step down" back with the bottom 3/4ths inch thicker than the top. Replaced shaft and a wrapped leather grip. $75.

PGB 11 MURRIE & SONS: "Murrie & Sons, Methven" on back of a concentric back weighted off set blade putter circa 1910-1915 with a hyphen scored face. Replaced grip over the original shaft. All stampings are deep and bold. G-6 $80.00

PGB 12 NEILSON, R, MUSSELBURGH: A circa 1910 Goose Neck "Excelsior" Putter with Centra-Ject back weighting stamped "R Neilson, Musselburgh" surrounding Condie's "Flower" mark. Original looking shaft with replacement period type grip over original listings. A nice putter. G-7 $110.00

PGB 13 NICHOLSON, D, PITTENWEEM, SCOTLAND: "D Nicholson, Maker, Pittenweem" and "Gold Medal, Edinburgh, Exhibition, 1890" in ovals on back of a circa 1900 smooth face Putter. Shaft and sheep skin grip look original. Nicholson died in 1900 making his clubs scarce and desirable. G-7 $135

PGB 14 NICOLL, GEORGE, LEVEN, SCOTLAND: A "Putting Cleek" with the "Hand" stamp. Original looking shaft and grip. G-7 $65

PGB 15 NICOLL, GEORGE, LEVEN, SCOTLAND: A circa 1930 "NAP" Putter with a dot punched face and long red grip. G-7 $65

PGB 16 NICOLL, GEORGE, LEVEN, SCOTLAND: A circa 1915-20 "George Nicoll, NAP Putter". Appears all orginal. G-7. $85.00

PGB 17 PARISH, C, THEYDON BOLS: A crescent head, pointed toe "Toby Putter". The hosel and shaft are oval in shape. Very seldom offered, especially in all original condition. An interesting and unusual collectible. G-7+ $325

PGB 18 PARK, WILLIE, MUSSELBURGH, SCOTLAND: "Patent" and a partial "Wm Park" mark on a circa 1900 bent neck blade Putter. Shaft and grip are replacements. Head is rusted. G-4 $110.00

PGB 19 PARK, WILLIE, MUSSELBURGH, SCOTLAND: A patented Willie Park Bent Neck Putter with dot punches professionally added to the original smooth face. Markings nearly "emoried" from the back. "Wm Park" stamped into the original shaft below the replacement grip over original listing. G-4 $150.00

PGB 20 PARK, WILLIE, MUSSELBURGH, SCOTLAND: Circa 1900 Wm Park Patent Putter with a nearly full "Wm Park" mark and "Patent" across the back. Original shaft replaced with an exotic Greenhart shaft. G-7 $250

PGB 21 PEACOCK, J M, ST ANDREWS: "J M Peacock, St. Andrews" stamped on a circa 1920's blade Putter with original shaft and replacement grip. Interesting alternating line and dot scored face. G-7+ $85.00

PGB 22 SHEFFIELD STEEL PRODUCTS: A "Rustless GEM Putter" with "Sheffield Steel Products" in tiny lettering. G-6 $75

PGB 23 SHERLOCK, JAMES, OXFORD, ENGLAND: "Putting Cleek No. 10" and the Sherlock's RARELY encountered "OXFORD" mark (see P-115 "Encyc"). Circa 1910 and appears all original. G-6 $85

PGB 24 STEWART, TOM, ST ANDREWS, SCOTLAND: A "Putting Cleek" circa 1920 with a line scored faced and Stewart's "Pipe" mark. G-5 $55

PGB 25 STEWART, TOM, ST ANDREWS, SCOTLAND: A nice Calamity Jane style smooth face off set blade made for "R Auld, Dunbar". G-7 $75

PGB 26 STEWART, TOM, ST ANDREWS, SCOTLAND: A nice GEM style shallow smooth face Putter circa 1910 with "Slazengers, New York" above the "Pipe" mark. All original and a scarce Stewart collectible putter. G-7 $95

PGB 27 & CO, LTD: "Thornton" in block letters on back of a circa 1910 straight blade smooth face putter with a replaced shaft. G-5 $90.00

PGB 28 UNKNOWN MAKER: "A (Andrew) Forgan, Glasgow" is stamped on the replacement shaft of a circa 1900 straight blade Putter. All maker's markings were emoried away by caddies. G-5 $75.00

PGB 29 UNKNOWN MAKER: "Wry Neck Putter" at the toe and "Carnoustie" and "Made In Scotland" in large block letters on the back of a circa 1920's line scored blade Putter. The British Open returns to Carnoustie in 1999 for the first time since Watson won there in 1975. A nice all original putter. G-7+ $75

PGB 30 UNKNOWN MAKER: A two-way smooth face steel blade Putter circa 1890-1900. All marks have been "emoried" away on the Cleek shaped head. Looks like an early Condie or Wilson. G-6 $85

PGB 31 UNKNOWN MAKER: "Warranted Scotchmade" on a circa 1925 Gem "Olympic Putter". Replaced grip on slightly warped original shaft. G-5 $90.00 UNKNOWN MAKER: A nice circa 1900-1910 smooth, deep face blade with two four leaf clovers (not Spalding's) at heel and toe and a large thistle inside an oval with "Thistle" in block lettering. G-7 $90.

PGB 32 WINTON, W & CO, LT'D, MONTROSE, SCOTLAND: "The Spielin Putter" stamped at the toe of a "Step Down" hosel blade Putter circa 1925. Replacement grip on the original shaft. G-6 $90.00
