Ayres' "Maltese Cross" mark is at the toe and "J W Moore, Royal Eastbourne" on the unusual back that has a ridge from heel to toe and gives it the appearance of a roof with sloping sides. "The Facet" in a "Triangle Sweet Spot" on a dot faced straight blade. G-7 $90-175
46........AN UNUSUAL SHORT HEAD BLADE PUTTER with "Made in St Andrews, Scotland" on the back. The rounded back blade is about 2/3rds the length of a standard blade. Many call this a "RUT" putter. G-7 $75-150
47........A SCARCE LONG TOM PUTTER. Halley's "Shell" mark at the toe of a circa 1925-30 "Long Tom Putter". The face has dots on the lower 2/3rds with the top 1/3rd smooth and beveled back. Unusual. G-8 $120-200
48........A SCARCE TOP SPIN PUTTER with Halley's "Pyramid" mark and "45 Special" at the toe. The top of the blade is twice as thick as the bottom, supposedly applying "Top Spin" to the ball. G-7 $190-300

52........PATENTED SPALDING PUTTER. "F-10, Pat'd 1-3-22" on the sole. This rounded toe blade has only four deep scoring lines on the bottom of the face with the top of the face being smooth. Appears all original with a wine colored grip. A "MUST" addition to any Spalding collection. G-7 $45-80

86........A SMALL HEAD RUT IRON stamped "R Forgan & Sons, St Andrews". The head is RUT size and has faint Forgan stampings. Willie Park made clubs with similar head shapes during the 1870s and is delicate compared to rut irons of the period. G-5+ $160-320
87........A FORGAN CHIPPER with a banana shaped, dot punched face head. "Forgan, St Andrews, Chipper" on the back and "P A Vaile, Stroke-saver" on the sole. The grip is square. G-7 $80-140
88........A GIBSON OVAL GEAD NIBLICK circa 1910 with diamond-dot face scoring. Gibson's "Star" mark at the toe. Grip and shaft look original. Gibson's stamp has been emoried away. G-5 $60-100
89........A BLACKSMITH MADE GENERAL IRON circa 1840-1860. Forging seams are evident near the heel and the hosel has deep jagged crimped down nicking. Shaft and grip are pre-1900 replacements. A significant early left handed iron. A great addition to any collection. G-6+ $1200-2000
90........AN EMORIED SWEET SPOT CLEEK. "Anderson of Anstruther" with the tiny circle mark on a circa 1900 Cleek with an "Emoried" sweet spot. Original looking shaft with a replacement grip. G-6 $90-160.
91........AN EARLY GENERAL IRON. Circa 1875 BLACKSMITH made General Purpose Iron with forging seams visible in the hosel and back of the hooked, dish faced head. The top of blade and hosel join are squared off indicative of early hand forgings. The hosel is thick at the top and has long jagged saw tooth nicking which was trimmed when the shaft was replaced. G-6 $450-750
92........A GIANT NIBLICK with Cochrane's "Bow-Line Knot" stamp. Nice shaft and grip, however, the head was rusted and has been cleaned leaving a brown patina with granular surfaces. All back stamps are readable. A good example for the budget minded collector. G-5 $750-1200
93........A SPENCE CONCAVE IRON. An interesting dot punched, concave face "Stop Ded Mashie-niblick" similar to the D T Spinner. "18" and Spence's "Flag-in-Hole" mark at the toe. G-6+ $120-200
94........A ROBERT WILSON IRON circa 1880's stamped "J Thomson, Felixstowe" and "R W St A". There is an "Inspection" type "Dot" at the toe. Shaft is a replacement. G-6. $150-275

What makes this club so interesting, the owner must have been fed up with replacing the splice whippings and had a club maker (or plumber) cover the whipping with a COPPER SLEEVE eight inches long. Not only will the whipping stay in place, the scare was made absolutely unbreakable. A great conversation piece! Head is G-6, shaft (above the copper) and grip are G-8+ $900-1400
