119 - 1 BRITISH GOLF CO, LONDON, ENGLAND: A scarce and seldom offered smooth face off set blade putter circa 1900-1905 stamped "British Golf Co, London" . Shaft is a replacement. G-5 $75
119 - 2 CONDIE, ROBERT, ST ANDREWS, SCOTLAND: A left handed off set hosel blade with a dot punched face. "R Condie, St. Andrews" surrounds his "Flower" mark. A nice Condie putter circa 1920. G-7 $85.

119 - 88 PARK, WILLIE, MUSSELBURGH, SCOTLAND: A circa 1890 with only several letters of Park's mark legible as well as a large letter "S". The shaft is marked "Wm Park" below the replaced period grip. G-5 $190
119 - 89 PARK, WILLIE, MUSSELBURGH, SCOTLAND: "WM. Park" on the replacement Lemonwood shaft with a whipping covered repair just above the hosel. Head is a deep faced General Purpose Iron circa 1870-1880 with squared of top of blade and hosel join. The 4 1/2 inch hosel had deep long saw tooth nicking before re-shafting. On pre-1880 irons, the saw tooth nicking secured the head to the shaft as well as a pin. When re-shafting, the blacksmith or club maker sawed off the points of the nicking in order to remove the shaft. An inexpensive early iron. G-5+ $250.

Splice whippings look old, but are most likely not the original. The shaft is stamped "R Forgan & Son, St Andrews" below the original looking sheep skin grip. The face is full leather with one nail having been placed too near the crown and is partially visible on the head. It hardly detracts from the overall appearance of this scarce late 19th Century rarity. G-7 $2250

The head is long and graceful much like the clubs made by Hugh Philp, of whom Forgan was an apprentice. Measured from the horn to the top of the face it is exactly one inch in depth. The original looking shaft is unmarked and the grip is half sheep skin and half dark wool underlistings. G-7 $3450

There is pronounced curve from heel to toe producing a "bulge" at the sweet spot, thus the name "Bulger". Today, clubs with a similar face design are labeled "Geer" effect. Robert Simpson apprenticed under Robert Forgan just before he took the job at Dalhousie in Carnoustie. This club is virtually MINT new. G-9 $2750
119 - 208 TOM MORRIS, ST. ANDREWS: A RARE Baffing Spoon circa 1870 with "T Morris" on the medium brown Beech head. The delicate gracefully curved neck leads to a shallow, hooked, well lofted face which measures only 7/8ths of an inch from horn to top of head. The overall length is 39 1/2" and the shaft has old whipping covering a repaired crack in the shaft. The old sheep skin grip is tattered at the bottom exposing dark wool underlistings. Clubs like this and the Forgan Long Spoon are further evidence feather balls were in use well into the 1860's and early 1870's. $2950
