123-1 MORRIS, TOM, ST. ANDREWS: "T MORRIS" on a circa Turn-of-the Century large head Driving Putter with a large lead back weight. The ram's horn slip has been replaced and has a very professional repair, almost unnoticeable, on the sole. The original shaft is stamped "T Morris, St. Andrews, N B". It has a magnetic appearance since it is made in the 1800-1840's style with a large head. G-7 $1900

The head is also stamped "Army & Navy Hold Fast, London" and has the Gibson's "Star". The hosel and shaft are oval and the original sheep skin grip is a bit tattered at the bottom. The rectangular face has a Pyramid dot design. The original shaft is stamped "Gibson's Star". A very nice example of this scarce collectible. G-8 $250

123-24 STANDARD GOLF CO, SUNDERLAND, ENGLAND: "TAFT" in large block lettering near the toe of an outstanding circa 1915-20 "The New Mills Ray Model" with a Medium lie. The hosel is sound and all head stampings are deep and bold. Grip is a nice leather play grip. President Taft is known to have used an aluminum mallet putter. The stamped "TAFT" letters appear to be as old as the putter. G-8 $150

123-51 ANDERSON, D & SONS, ST ANDREWS, SCOTLAND: A "Maxwell Niblick" with flanged back and twelve holes drilled in the hosel and arranged in four rows of three rather than the usual spiral configuration. 123-64 GIBSON, WILLIAM, KINGHORN, SCOTLAND: An outstanding "James Braid Mashie" with the "Star" mark at the toe. The smooth deep face has a nearly "Square" toe. One of the best examples I've seen. Grip is a replacement. G-8 $150
123-65 GIBSON, WILLIAM, KINGHORN, SCOTLAND: "The Skoogee" with Gibson's "Star" mark stamped on the wide flanged sole. The original concave face has been made "legal" by grinding away the top and bottom of the face taking away the concavity. The head is in otherwise superb condition and would make a great hickory playable sand iron. $195.

There is pronounced curve from heel to toe producing a "bulge" at the sweet spot, thus the name "Bulger". Today, clubs with a similar face design are labeled "Geer" effect.
